Introducing the Oregon Sports Compact Racing Association (OSCRA)

Welcome to Four-Cylinder Racing’s Newest Group
The Oregon Sports Compact Racing Association (OSCRA) is making its debut in Scottsburg, OR. The organization’s founder, Mike Seets, is seeking feedback on what he believes is an exciting concept—a well-compensated racing series designed to attract top dirt track teams from across Oregon. Let’s hear more from Mike about the OSCRA vision.
Seeking Input from Drivers
Mike is looking for honest input, positive or negative, regarding this initiative. Having invested substantial time and effort into the idea, he feels that without feedback from drivers, it can be discouraging and may lead him to reconsider moving forward. The call is open for drivers and other stakeholders to share their opinions and help shape the future of the association.
Building Membership and Adjusting Plans
Adaptations have been necessary based on participation at local tracks. Without a solid base of registered members, it has proven challenging to engage tracks in partnership. As a result, the focus for the upcoming year will shift more toward building membership rather than conducting a full points series.
Race Schedule and Membership Details
Currently, two tracks are committed to the program: Willamette Speedway and Douglas County Dirt Track. Together, they will host a total of seven points races:
• Four races with a $500 payout to the winner
• Two Dickenson Cage Northwest Cage Races (each offering $650 in value)
• The Hornet 100, with a prize of $1,000 or more
The best six out of seven races at Willamette Speedway and Douglas County Dirt Track will determine the series champion, who will receive a Dickenson Cage Northwest Cage Kit and additional prizes as sponsors join. Points Series Membership is set at $50 per year, which also covers entry to all five cage races.
Expanding Cage Race Participation
Separate from the primary points series, efforts are underway to involve additional tracks—Coos Bay Speedway (CBS), Cottage Grove Speedway (CGS), and Southern Oregon Speedway (SOS)—for three “Dickenson Cage Northwest Cage Races,” each run under the respective track’s current Hornet/Sport Compact rules. Membership for just the five Cage Races will be available for $25 and covers one race at each of the following tracks: Willamette Speedway, Douglas County Dirt Track, Southern Oregon Speedway, Cottage Grove Speedway, and Coos Bay Speedway.
Event Cash and Prize Payouts
The total OSCRA event cash and prize payouts for the year are estimated at around $7,000, with the potential for this figure to grow as membership increases and sponsors are added to the program. All membership fees are reinvested directly into OSCRA to support its growth and sustainability.
Registration and Participation Interest
To streamline registration, scheduling, and points tracking, OSCRA is considering a partnership with My Race Pass at a cost of $1,000 for the year. Before committing to this investment, Mike needs to gauge interest from participants to ensure the viability of the program.
Looking Ahead
The association’s future hinges on the level of interest received within the coming week. If there is minimal response, the initiative may be postponed until next year, allowing time to refocus on other priorities.
