Olga Coply was an amazing woman in motorsports. Not for what she did on the track, but for how she treated people at the track!
Olga was the most amazing racer’s wife you could ever imagine. When her husband spent too much on his car, she never grumbled very loud in public – we don’t know what may or may not have been said behind closed doors, but you can be sure she never brought that negativity to the track. When her husband wrecked his car, she would help put it back together so he could make the next race. And when he decided to move from driving to promoting – she was right there beside Bob making sure everything happened just the way it needed to.
There wasn’t anything about those events that she didn’t know just as well as her husband did. She could answer questions on the rules, then sell you a subscription to Speedway Illustrated, and have you feeling good about all of it before sending you back to your pit. Olga was the kind of woman who was invested in our sport – who was invested in us.
