Huge congratulations to Drew Crenshaw and the Anderson 68 Racing Team
It was an exciting night of racing at Magic Valley Speedway, where a field of 13 of Southern Idaho’s best four-cylinder stock cars put fans on the edge of their seats.
The action started early in qualifying when Jordan Carpenter put his Honda on top, winning the Jerry Pitts Racing $50 Fast Time Award with a lap of 15.968 seconds. He was the only driver to break into the 15-second bracket. Fast Freddy Vigil qualified second at 16.137, and defending race champion Drew Crenshaw was third quickest at 16.196.
Craig Taylor’s Honda led the field in the Fast Trophy Dash, where Taylor’s No. 17 battled Crenshaw’s No. 0 all the way to a near photo finish. Crenshaw scored the win by just 0.121 seconds over Taylor.
Heat race action saw Heat 1 go to the ever-improving Scott Hend, who held off Richard Hatch after Hatch charged from the outside of row three. Dylan Volm rounded out the top three.
In Heat 2, Taylor took the win ahead of Vigil, while Troy Palmer drove past MVS champion Tyler Palmer’s hot rod. The 8-lap heat finished at 2:27.670, making it an amazingly fast race.
The Olga’s Prelude to the Dream 35 featured a couple of early cautions, but once the field settled in, the race turned into door-to-door action at its best. Crenshaw and Carpenter staged a late-race battle that attracted the fans’ attention, while Taylor stayed close enough to keep the leaders honest.
Hend, Vigil, and Trevor Anderson also put on a close battle that kept fans and race crews looking back and forth. With action happening all around the track, the race was fun and exciting to watch.
Mike Anderson, Troy Palmer, and Mike Audit all had tough luck during the night. Audit had battery issues that sidelined him in both the heat race and the feature, earning him the evening’s Hard Luck Award.
Overall, the weekend featured a beautiful, slightly windy Idaho day, a strong field of race teams, and an exciting Dream Raffle. Blain Waller won the DeWalt one-half-inch drive impact with charger and carrying bag, while several other lucky attendees also went home with prizes.
I want to thank everyone who attended and took part in this event. I also invite all of you to join us for the 7th Annual Olga’s California Dream 100, set for August 14–15 at Madera Speedway in Madera, California. Thanks again.
